The Shoe Project MEDIA ADVISORY
TORONTO (November 3, 2022) — Canadian charity The Shoe Project has launched its annual online auction and among the 50+ items up for grabs are Louboutin and Yves Saint Laurent shoes from prominent litigator, Marie Henein.
Funds raised through the online auction help The Shoe Project in its mission to hold writing workshops and public speaking performances across the country for immigrant and refugee women. Participants are instructed to write and perform their immigration stories, told through a significant pair of shoes.
“I love shoes,” says Henein. “I love women in fabulous shoes. The women in my family, all immigrants, know the value of a good shoe in making the road that they walked a little better and maybe a little more glamorous too. And I can’t imagine a better reason to buy shoes than to support immigrant and refugee women who need all our support on the road that they are on. So buy a shoe or two…”
Henein also donated a signed copy of her book, “Nothing But the Truth – A Memoir”, which details her Egyptian-Lebanese family’s experiences as immigrants to Canada and her life as a lawyer in an often misunderstood justice system.
The auction is live now and ends on November 14.
