Breaking Ground

On September 25, 2018, four immigrant women from the Vancouver chapter of The Shoe Project told their stories of arrival and adaptation—through a pair of shoes. The evening’s stories come from Eritrea, Tibet, Syria and Iraq.

The evening was presented by PIRS (Pacific Immigrant Resources Society. PIRS has been working with immigrant and refugee women and their children for more than 40 years, helping thousands of women learn English and develop leadership skills. Breaking Ground is about celebrating the resilience and courage of these women.
